Questions and Answers
What's new in the 2018 tax form?
Is there anything new this year when I am filing my Tax Return? What should I look out for?
This year you will need to pay more attention to the section on domicile and tax residency.
Tax residency and domicile have a profound effect on how much of your worldwide income is taxed in Ireland.
Revenue has always included questions in the Income Tax return on domicile and tax residency. However in the past it was possible to fill out the form without answering all of these.
Now you must complete this section in full or you won’t be able to file your return.
You will need to indicate your tax residence and domicile status including entering your country of nationality from a dropdown list.
If you are unsure how to answer these questions, please make sure to get professional advice as you may be taxed incorrectly if you give information on this section of the form which is not accurate.
