New Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme for Employers
As part of the July Stimulus package the government announced a new Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme for employers of apprentices.
What is the Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme?
The Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme provides financial support for apprenticeship employers who take on apprentices on all national apprenticeship programmes and will also apply to any new programmes launched in 2020. Read more about the national apprenticeship programmes here
How much can I get?
Employers will receive a €3,000 payment for each new apprentice who was/is registered between 01 March and 31 December 2020. €2,000 will be paid at registration with €1,000 payable in Quarter 3 2021.
How do I apply?
You can apply for this scheme through SOLAS, the statutory agency overseeing the apprenticeship system.
If you are not registered as an apprenticeship employer, you will need to complete the online process here
You need to advertise your apprenticeship jobs on www.apprenticeshipjobs.ie and once an apprentice has been hired, you must register them as an apprentice with SOLAS through your local ETB.
Once your apprentice has been registered employers will be invited to submit a claim form for the Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme.
When this claim is approved payment will be processed to your bank account.
If you already have an apprentice that was registered after 01 March 2020 you should receive contact soon from SOLAS inviting you to make a claim for the incentive.
Other points to note:
- If you made/make an apprentice redundant between 01 March and 31 December 2020 you not eligible for the scheme.
- Apprenticeship employers cannot claim for both the Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme and JobsPlus for their apprentices.
- Apprenticeship employers will be subject to monitoring visits and contact in the usual way by the national network of SOLAS Authorised Officers.
You can find out more about apprenticeships though SOLAS and your Local Enterprise Office.
