How can I get receipts to my accountant?
I want to file my 2020 tax return but I would rather not travel to my accountant to hand over receipts, what can I do?
If you want to avoid having to physically bring in your records to your accountant, you can use a document scanning facility like Dext, formerly Receipt Bank, to capture the required documents needed to complete your tax return.
All you need to do is take pictures of your receipts with your smartphone using the Dext mobile app. Your accountant can then log in to the account, view your receipts and use them to prepare your accounts and tax returns.
No accounting knowledge is required to use this app - once you can use a smartphone you can use Dext!
Using this software also gives you peace of mind that these electronic records are in an acceptable format should Revenue look to review your receipts at any stage.
