Extension to deadline for Annual Returns
Update:
The CRO have announced that the 28 May filing deadline has been extended, once again, until Friday 11 June 2021 in light of difficulties with filing in CORE.
However we would encourage everyone to file their outstanding annual returns in the coming days as the system is likely going to come under pressure again the closer we get to 11 June and there is no guarantee of a further extension.
It has been announced that companies with an annual return date of 30 September 2020 or later have until 28 May 2021 to file their annual return.
The measure has been taken due to the current Level 5 restrictions and also because of the challenges business face adjusting to a new CORE system.
All companies who already have an agreed extension to file, due to delayed AGMs until 26 Feb 2021, will have a further extension to file until 28 May 2021.
It is important to note that during the extension period it will be possible for companies with an extension to file B1B73s.
Reacting to the announcement TaxAssist Accountants managing director, Alison McGinley, said “the last few months have obviously been hard on businesses as they navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. We welcome the announcement to extend to the annual return deadline as it will ease some of the pressure that business owners are facing. It will also give them a change to become more familiar with the new CORE system.”
