A:  If you employed staff in the year you will need to file a P35 form. The form gives details of all taxes deducted from your employees during the year. The P35 should include the names and details of all employees who worked for you during 2015.

The online filing date for 2015 P35 returns is the 23rd of February 2016. In order to avail of the online deadline you will need to both file and pay via Revenue Online Service (ROS) by 23rd. If there is a balancing payment due, because you have not paid all the payroll taxes during the year, this will need to be paid in full by the 23rd to avail of the online deadline. There may not neccesarily be a balancing payment, if you paid all PAYE/PRSI/USC during the year. A penalty for not filing the P35, up to a maximum of €5,000 can apply. Revenue may also attach interest on late payments.

If you use a payroll software package the information can be exported from this and uploaded directly to Revenue Online Service (ROS). Its key you contact your accountant in advance of the deadline, to ensure your filing obligations are met and avoid any potential penalties.
